Our Story

IMG_9091.JPG

Namrita Narula and Nikhil Gupta met within the first few days of school during their first year (fall 2018) at Penn. One September day, they were tired of eating dining hall food and wanted to explore local Philadelphia restaurants. After a quick Yelp search and looking for something that suited Nikhil’s vegetarian diet and Namrita’s craving for breakfast for dinner, they stumbled upon Sabrina’s Cafe – a Hispanic- and woman-owned restaurant. They loved the food and dining experience at this small business and knew they had to continue supporting it throughout their time at Penn. As aspiring entrepreneurs and business students with the power to decide where their dollars went for the first time in their life, they began to recognize the importance of shopping local. During the pandemic, the need for Penn students to support the Philadelphia community – a community that the University has profited off of – only heightened. As upperclassmen guiding new Penn students, it was only natural that they shared the place where they bonded with their best friend in addition to other minority/women-owned business enterprise (MWBE) restaurants located in their new home city.
